What's Included?
Wonder of Science Years 4 - 9 Curriculum Aligned Challenge Tasks*, V8.4 and V9.0 available.
Teacher unit overview and lesson plans.
Resource Pack: Teacher FAQ, Investigation Planners, Design Brief, Conference Criteria, Conference Guidelines etc.
Young Science Ambassador videos for selected tasks.
Inspirational STEM researchers - Young Science Ambassadors.
Two Young Science Ambassadors visits throughout the term.**
Ongoing support from Wonder of Science team including - embedding with curriculum, support with tailoring tasks, developing criteria and assessment, and coordination of visits.
Teacher Professional Development sessions on request - full-day, half-day and one-hour sessions available.
Invitation to a one-day Regional Conference for a representative student team from each class to present their Challenge Task***.
Engaging STEM workshops and Meet-the-Scientist sessions throughout the day.
Invitation to State Conference for Regional Conference winners.
*Choose from Wonder of Science Challenge Tasks or work with us to develop your own task. Some tasks can be adapted to different year levels - please contact the team for more.

Curriculum Aligned
Over 25 curriculum-aligned Challenge Tasks.
Aligned to the Australian Science learning area with connections to the Mathematics and Technologies areas.
All tasks develop Science Inquiry Skills and understanding of Science as a Human Endeavour.
Tasks in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Earth and Space Sciences for Years 4 - 9.
Incorporation of Design and Digital Technologies, and Mathematics capabilities are included in most Challenge Tasks.
Connections to general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities - including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures, and Sustainability for select tasks.
Wonder of Science currently offer units aligned to both Version 8.4 and Version 9.0 for 2025.

Wonder of Science is free of charge in locations where our funding partners support implementation. Please email wonderofscience@uq.edu.au to inquire about funded regions. Our 2025 funded regions include*:

The fee-for-service option is available for schools not in funded regions - small schools can share the fee (arranged in consultation with the team).
For schools within three hours drive of Brisbane, our fee-for-service model is as follows:

Costs are based on all inclusions (full program, YSA visits, PD, conference attendance etc.) outlined in the "What's Included" section above.

The virtual program fee is $2500 not including GST ($2750 with GST) per school (for up to 6 classes) for a term – that’s less than $17 per student. Pricing options available for varying class sizes.

How to get involved
Through generous support from partner organisations and our sponsors across Queensland, Wonder of Science is offered free of charge to Queensland schools in selected rural, regional, and remote locations.
To cater to schools outside funded regions, Wonder of Science also offers a 'fee-for-service' program.
